Research and Teaching

Research

As part of the Medical University of Innsbruck, we strive to contribute to the scientific knowledge in the fields of Neurosciences and Neurosurgery.

We conduct several academic clinical trials and run a tumor biobank. Our department also participates in numerous international clinical multicenter trials. 

We encourage and support all our residents to enroll for one of the PhD programs offered by the Medical University of Innsbruck and to complete fellowships and observerships at prestigious institutions across the world. All our doctors are part of subspecialized work groups within the neurosurgical department.

•     Neurosurgical Oncology
•     Vascular Neurosurgery
•     Spinal Neurosurgery
•     Functional Neurosurgery
•     Neurotraumatology

Teaching

Most of our consultants are lecturers at the Medical University of Innsbruck and have dedicated themselves to the teaching of medical and postgraduate students. Our department offers a number of internships, bed-side teaching seminars and lectures to university students who are interested in Neurosurgery. Also, many students choose to write their thesis on a neurosurgical topic.
